But seriously though, why are there so many photoshopped Alvin and the Chipmunk OCs? The one thing I regret is we’ll never find out the answer.
(Short version: OCD is over, but we may return in a different format. More details on that at the bottom of this post)
It’s been about two and a half years since I started Original Character Disorder, back when I naively thought there must not have been a lot of blogs out there dedicated to my hobby: finding funny OCs and sharing them. I really love the idea of the modern “original character,” and how people are making their own stories for their own sake. I have a very large number of my own, and I love the Original and Fan Character room in Doodle or Die to see what other people are coming up with. But there are a lot of bad OCs out there, and a lot of them can be funny for how bizarre or stereotypically bad they are.
But a thing I’ve had to wrestle with in regards to OCD is if we were being “mean” or not. We’ve always tried to be nice around here; we don’t include links or identifying information about the artists, we don’t go after specific people over and over, we don’t make personal attacks on the artists themselves, and we remove any content that we’re asked to take down. The idea was that yes, we’re making fun of characters, but we’re not trying to hurt anyone, and the point was to be able to laugh at mistakes and improve on them.
Ultimately, though, that was just my own point of view. As much as I apologized for any feelings that get hurt, and as much as I did not intend to make people feel bad about themselves, there ARE people who feel bad as a result of being featured on this blog. I’ve reached out to some of these people and told them that they should never give up on creating characters just because we were having a laugh, but people don’t need to be put in that situation in the first place. A lot of stuff recently that has happened to people I know and with this whole GamerGate shit made me realize that I feel like I’m part of the problem.
Now, I’m not trying to shame any of you followers! Almost 1000 people have been following this silly thing, and I appreciate it. And yeah, bad writing and bad drawings are still really funny, there’s no denying that. But I don’t feel comfortable anymore doing something that I know at least some people have taken as a personal attack.
So, is Original Character Disorder done forever? Yes and no. At some point in the near future, I’m going to delete most of the content that was on here. However, I still like what we were doing with critiques and Building A Better Character. So I think I might make an offshoot blog of OCD that just focuses on those constructive aspects. It’s not gonna be exactly as funny as bad drawings, but I’d like to continue working on something that involves my love of OCs that is more helpful to people.
So yeah, thanks to everybody who followed us. If I get around to making that new critique and advice based OC blog, then I’ll post a link to it here. Hope to see you all there!
And remember, never stop making OCs.
Unannounced hiatus! Yeah, sorry, that’s kinda shitty of me. We will return in the future and get around the the various things we have queued up.
Last time I said “this won’t be 6 months” and it took 8, so I’m just not gonna put any timeline on it. “Soonish” should work.
Done. The post has been removed.
Just so other people know, if you want something you drew taken off of the site, please include a post number. We try and find the post even if you don’t provide that, but it does help us get to it faster.
Olivia is exhibiting one of her special powers: Breastmorphing. As a Breastmorph, Olivia has the ability to shapeshift her boobs into almost anything. Here, she has turned her chest into a pair of venomous milk-spitting cobras to fight alongside her on the field of battle.
Thank you for your continued fanart of our mascots Onics the Hedgehog and the as-of-yet unrenamed Perfect Insanity the Pony. Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that this is a non-canon pairing. Perfect Insanity is dating Slenderman, while Onics the Hedgehog is currently in a relationship with Yam the Hedgehog, who is like Amy the Hedgehog except she is a yam.

So this is for some cartoon called “TUFF Puppy.” I’m not familiar with the show, so maybe the following is completely normal. I’ll let you be the judge.
"Do you think I’m beautiful…?"
Name: Ikari utsukushi-sa (Wrathful Beauty in Japanese)
Dislikes: Her envy for beautiful women
Bio: Back in Japan, Kari was a shy individual who had a husband, but she didn’t love him, because of how violent he was. When her husband found out that she found another man, he went to a uncontrollable rage, and killed her, by mutilating her mouth with a pair of giant pliers she uses in her garden. Believing that she died, she was then brought back, to get her revenge on her husband, and kills him by stabbing him in the heart. To this day, she remains at large, and because of her immortality, she cannot be sealed, killed, not even destroyed.. they can only escape. She’s also known, as The Devil’s Lullaby, because she kills her victims while either playing, or singing a lullaby her mother told her every night before bed. As they always say… Looks can be deceiving… What’s hiding under that veil on her… is a mystery, left unsolved… The weird thing however, is despite being a heartless soul, she actually spares Dr. Basilisk’s life…
